If being hard on yourself worked,
it would have worked already.
There’s a kinder, gentler, and more sustainable approach to personal growth.
It’s time to stop working on yourself and start working with yourself.
Hakomi Somatic Coaching is a gentle, yet highly effective,
method of mindful, embodied, compassionate self-discovery + transformation.
It blends deep mindfulness practices with an experience-based somatic approach
to fully embrace each person in a grounded and holistic way.
The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.
-Carl Rogers
What can you expect?
Mindful.
Mindfulness, as defined by Jon Kabat-Zinn, is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, without judgement.
Mindfulness is a state of consciousness, which allows us to move beyond our normal, habitual thoughts and actions. It is a powerful tool to support self- study and transformation.
In the wise words of Moshe Feldenkrais, You can’t do what you want until you know what you are already doing.
Embodied.
There’s a well known saying amongst those who work with the body - the issues are in the tissues. Your body is an incredible source of wisdom. It stores emotional experiences and memories that are not accessible by your thinking mind alone.
Learning how to listen to your body is one of the most powerful tools you can cultivate as a human being. Together we will study movement, gesture, voice, tensions and impulses to tap into the body’s wisdom and provide direct access to core transformation.
Compassionate.
Compassion embodies a tangible expression of love for those who are suffering - including yourself.
Pema Chodron wisely taught, When we practice generating compassion, we can expect to experience the fear of our pain. Compassion practice is daring. It involves learning to relax and allow ourselves to move gently toward what scares us.
All parts of you (even the parts that you reject) are welcomed and treated with compassion, kindness and curiosity.
Together we will...
Uncover habitual patterns of thinking, feeling and doing that sustain unnecessary suffering and block potential happiness.
Bring those patterns into mindful awareness.
Find the core beliefs that drive those patterns.
Discover new, more realistic and rewarding mind-sets.
Establish and stabilize new, more nourishing habits.
Create customized practices to bring into your everyday life.
Awareness creates choice.
Practice builds capacity.
